Parents: Have you ever almost regretted volunteering to accompany your preschooler?

The experience is based on the teacher. I give the parent their child, plus a couple of their child's friends. I base splitting up the kids on the number of adults. Morning trips are always the best, the kids are rested and want to be there. Many moms say they actually wind up enjoying the trip. The one thing that has aggravated me as a teacher, is when the parent volunteer is busy on the cell phone, or engaged in an in-depth talk with another parent ignoring the kids. I saw one class on a trip we went, a parent lost a child. Now, seriously, how do you lose a kid if you are with your child and two other kids? This mom was too busy with her phone to notice one boy wandered off. The teacher was never alerted till they were boarding the bus to leave!
