Why on Gemini X did John Young ask Houston to censor his bogey sightings?

They must have been told to never speak of any encounters or to speak in code. People on the earth can monitor there radio transmissions and the astronauts might have seen an illusion or the real thing. Either way they don't want the puplic to think they hired a bunch of crazy people to fly for the government..?
